Dear JSALT2025 participants,

the JSALT2025 is coming. We are excited to welcome you to Brno, Czech Republic. To ensure everything runs smoothly and avoid complications during your stay, please make sure to complete the following steps as soon as possible:

1. Obtain Travel Insurance (mandatory)

You are required to arrange travel insurance before your departure, including:

• Medical expenses coverage in the Czech Republic

• Personal liability insurance

These are necessary in case of health emergencies, urgent dental treatment, or accidental damage during your stay. This is a standard requirement for longer events and helps ensure your safety and peace of mind.

How to get it: Simply choose the best Insurance company in your country >> go to their website or visit them in your hometown >> ask them for travel insurance (with items above at least) >> be sure to request geo-validity for Czechia (or EU) and time-validity for the whole stay >> pay (service is not valid if not paid). 

2. Set up account with Revolut or WISE in a CZK currency

In case the participant’s (your) living allowance is paid by BUT from JSALT budget, be sure to open a personal account in Czech koruna (CZK) using Revolut or WISE. You can skip this if you come under ESPERANTO project or self-funded.

This will allow us to transfer living allowance with minimal transaction fees and better exchange rates, compared to traditional bank transfers.

3. Read the Welcome Guide

All practical information about the event, how to get here, travel, accommodation address, and your stay in Brno can be found in the Welcome Guide. 👉 “JSALT2025 Welcome GUIDE” 

Please read it carefully and let us know if you have any questions.

Specially, you will find 

• time-table

• where to come first day of summer school (June 9, 2025) or first day of workshop (June 23, 2025)

• maps / orientation

• contact gsm/WhatsApp numbers …

If you have already completed all of these steps – thank you! Otherwise, we kindly ask you to do so as soon as possible to avoid delays later on.

JSALT 2025 is getting closer, and we’d like to share some important information with you!

1. “JSALT 2025 Welcome GUIDE” 

We’ve put together a “JSALT2025 Welcome GUIDE” with details about the schedule, travel, accommodation options, maps, practical tips, contact info, etc. We’re sharing it now even though we’ll be updating it with additional info as we go.

2. REQUIREMENTS from participants

With over 100 participants, we’ll need everyone’s help to keep things running smoothly.

Please read the “JSALT 2025 Welcome GUIDE > REQUIREMENTS” section at the beginning of the Welcome Guide carefully. It covers important administrative steps related to:

• travel expense (if paid by JSALT)

• accommodation contracts (if paid by JSALT/ESPERANTO)

• network access at BUT

• living allowance contract (if paid by BUT)

• signing a payment contract with BUT

• completing a tax questionnaire

• having a CZK (Czech Koruna) bank account (we’ll ask you to use Revolut or Wise)

• having valid health and personal liability insurance.

3. Email list “jsalt-participants@list.fit.vut.cz”

List with all JSALT2025 participants. This email list will be used for announcements and updates before and during the event.
